What do you think of the Princeton website redesign?

I like it. There is less prominence of tiger orange in the new design, but the randomly appearing student photographs look great, and the admission information seems to be easier to navigate now.

I like the inclusion of the minorities under the student profiles and the not so bright colors.

I sent a very long and detailed message with my thoughts to the feedback address. The main things:
*The content is much easier to navigate, and ultimately that's the most important thing and the thing that makes this site better than its predecessor.
*Visually, the main page has problems...it looks like it's supposed to follow a grid layout but it doesn't do this very well at all. This results in a sort of cluttered, unorganized look. The main pictures run outside the grid, the For Parents/Guidance Counselors row doesn't correspond with Undergraduate Admission and the shield, and I think it's awkward having that tab up there in the first place. I also don't think that having all the images lopsided (again because of that tab) is visually pleasing. I don't like how the colors alternate between Student Profiles/News & Announcements and Faculty Profiles/Dates & Deadlines.
*I feel like the tabs at the bottom of the main page should have News/Dates first, followed by profiles...readers naturally view the left side of that part of that page first, and it's most important that they find the information they need quickly...
*On linked pages...oh god, that top right image is BAD. The "covered-up corner" look is not good. Again, problems with grid management.

Still, an improvement on the old one, for sure, where it was impossible to find anything you needed without clicking at least 5 different links.

Is this just for Admissions, or are they redesigning the whole site?

Oh, I just viewed it, I guess it is just for admissions. Anway the text is way to too thin and small. The font should be kept consistent throughout. The font changes from bold to regular for no reason. Other than that, I agree with quirkily. I do not like the raised corner thing. If they are going to do that, there needs to be some kind of buffer between the raised part and the rest of the page. Also, the image they used for the Princeton U logo should be the same as the rest of the site, or at least similar. The university name and shield is low quality now.

Much more complete information.
The admission map was particularly interesting.

re: the "low quality" logo on the admissions site, tokyo - it's a new university "signature" that's been three years in the making, involving numerous parties both inside and outside the university:

<a href="http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pwb/07/0916/identity/%5B/url%5D">http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pwb/07/0916/identity/</a></p>

Oh I see. Well I guess I don't like it very much do I, haha.

The italicized text on the admissions front page is a bit hard to read. The main theater image used could be of a higher quality... but I like it. Much better than some others I've seen. Honestly, some of these admissions websites (some for VERY good colleges) look like they haven't been updated since the 90's.

I REALLY liked the addition of the admissions map.

I wish all colleges would do that.
