Improvement?

Alright so 9-10th grade i slacked off, i procrastinated and all, which brought me to a gpa of 3.2. 11th grade i took an ap class and honors classes and improved, and if i maintain my grades (which i probably will) it should get me to a 4.0-4.5 11th grade year. but weighted overall it would only get me to like 3.6 or something, which is still low. can that improvement at least help when im applying to UCs?

Definitely. :D
Grade improvements and having more challenging classes as you go on is definitely something that colleges look for. UCs look at your 10th and 11th grade work for the most part, so I think you're in good shape. Just do well in your classes!

Maybe you can try and score high on ACT or SATs.

Grade improvements are good but put you at a disadvantage. If a college had to decide between you who improved or someone who had a higher grade all through high school and kept it high, the other person would probably get in. It is better to have the better GPA all through high school then to raise yours to that better GPA after doing poorly at first.

ah i see. lets say i scored like a 2000 on my SAT. would it help for senior year if i took like 2 AP classes and manage to keep a 4.0-4.5? (my school runs on Copernican schedule so i only have 4 periods.) i know senior year doesnt count when it comes in terms for gpa but would it still show that i managed to improve greatly despite my low gpa in 9th and 10th?

Yes, but I don't know how much. It depends on each school you apply to.
