Improving ACT Reading?

does “reading for fun” help naturally increase your ACT Reading score?

If not, what would?

Taking practice tests.

I have the exact same problem… I know a lot of people say take practice tests and I do, but my score never really rises… Should I like slowly figure out exactly why I’m missing each question and write it down in a notebook or something? Thanks for any comments!

One thing the PR book said to do which has helped me was to focus on the “easy” questions on reading before the harder questions. There are usually about 2 questions for each passage that are verbatim, if not very close. These usually are the questions with shorter questions and shorter answers. Get these as well as the questions with direct line references done first while the passage is fresh on your mind. If you get stuck on the second question of the passage you will be frustrated, could run out of time, etc. and not be able to get the easy ones correct! Secondly, you’ve had more time to digest the passage and can more easily answer a “main idea” or “the author would most likely agree with” harder question after doing the easier questions/questions that just require a quick passage reference.
