Make sure you keep the upward trend and do really well junior year. Also, try to raise your ACT to a 33/34. As for EC’s, you should start a club or find ways to volunteer/help/give back to the community (I started a started a drive to collect 10,000 soda can tabs to give to the Ronald McDonald house).

Emory: low reach
NYU Stern: reach
BC: high match
UMich: high match
UVA: high match
Villanova: low match
Indiana: low match
Fordham: low match
PSU: low match

It’s really too early to tell since you’ve not yet started your junior year…but I agree with the people above me.

I would definitely recommend studying for your ACTs to aim for a score about 33 and do very well on the PSAT so you can be considered for national merit. You may also want to go for some leadership positions in organizations/clubs you have a passion for!

@kkdubbs I have 3 leadership positions in FBLA, Mock Trial, and International Affairs. My PSAT last year was 180, this year it will likely be a 200 and national merit qualifying is 217 in my state

Great! Keep it up!

Just make sure you take the hardest classes offered at your school and take as many AP classes as possible. I think you should be fine though…

Emory- mid reach

Virginia- low reach
NYU- Mid-high reach

everywhere else safeties/low match

Since you’re only a junior, I can’t guarantee you anything. Keep up with your AP classes and gpa. Also, get more involved in the field you’re aiming for. Internships will definitely help. After you post your finalized scores, you’ll probably be accepted to all the universities on your list! Good luck!

I’d say try getting your UW GPA do a 3.8 and get ur ACT up to 34 and the internship at Ernst and Young is FANTASTIC. MAKE SURE YOU GET IT. its definitely a competitive edge on others especially because its a Big4, an I think thats still pretty good for a finance major. Teaching your mom how to drive doesnt matter. if u become pres of one of those 3 clubs u mentioned, then i think you are a match to every college you have written up there. as of now, with ur stats, i think university of virginia, u of michigan, boston college, and emory are a bit out of your reach, if ur majoring in finance you HAVE to go to a good school. Finance is one of the few majors with a prestige premium so make sure u get into a good school. I think you have a pretty good shot and Stern and thats a good school, so that should be ur safety but its also really expensive so make sure u can pay for it or get scholarships.

Definitely take those AP’s and bump up that ACT a bit. A 34 would be in the higher end for both Emory and NYU and would put you in a very good spot. The internship at EY is also great, didn’t know they offered those to hs students. You must have some sick connections. The upward trend is really good and I think that matters a lot.

Given that you go on the right path (AP’s , higher ACT)

Emory University (ED) - low reach

Again, I don’t chance much, I only read them. Take my info with a grain of salt. There’s a ton of great chances in this thread.

@Bonsly My mom’s brother and his father are both Partners at EY. That is how I got the internship. Thanks for the chance

Emory University- low reach

In general, take better courses to higher your weighted gpa. Extracurriculars are ok, i would suggest you pick something and stay with it but you don’t have much time so nvm.

I say try and load up on some APs. Especially maths. Also, try taking the SAT Subject Tests in Math II. That’ll show that you’re really interested in math. Also, it might be too late, but try a sport. I know schools like UMich really like seeing sports. Is you UW gpa out of 4 or 5? because thats important lol. Some of your schools like UVA and Emory seem like big strives but I think if you have a fair shot at NYU and UMich :)

Emory - match/low reach
NYU Stern - reach
UVirginia - reach
Boston College - reach
Penn State - match
Definitely try to take as many AP’s as possible. You still have time to get your GPA up so I would suggest you really take your academics seriously during your junior year. All of those reaches can turn into matches if you raise your GPA. Good luck!:)

@frogdragon118 Out of 4. I will have 6 AP classes by the end of senior year to go along with 14 honors. Out of 9 AP classes and 17 honor classes.

Actually, teaching your mom how to drive is actually something you should put on your application. The internship at EY is alright, but colleges know you have connections. Look at Babson and Bentley as well for business.

@Oberyn What would teaching my mom how to drive go under? EC or extra information.
Babson and Bentley are to small for me
