I have great math (800) and writing scores (720), but my critical reading score is not as high (600). It is still good for me, but there is obviously room for improvement. Does anyone have any advice on a realistic way to improve my score over the summer? Or should I just stop now with a 600? I'm not really sure what school I want to go to, but I definitely donnot want to enter an English field. Does this mean that colleges will not consider my english score as important?

If your not entering the English field, your scores are not that important. However, improvment can help you get into a better college anyway. My advice, do TONS of practice questions. If you are not so great at vocab, reveiw some, but not excessivly. Practice questions with explinations if possible. College board book is good, but there are no explinations...

in addition to practice questions from the collegeboard books, read an article or two a day from these sites as listed in the following thread:

I've already done all the practice tests in collegeboard. I used to be much worse. On the PSAT I got a 540. So, obviously, I've improved. But I have a really low vocabulary so I am pretty bad at the sentence completions. I do really well on some passages and really poorly on others. There are just some that I don't understand.

i have a really low vocabulary as well. i learned however, if you maximize your potential on the reading comprehension(get 0 or 1 wrong) you still have a chance for 700.

My new strategy is to pick the most obscure answers for the last 2 on each set. I normally know the first 7 and don't know the last 2. If I'm somewhat familiar with a word but dont know what it means on the last 2 i automatically cross it off. That has worked well for me.

u mean a 140 not a 540 on PSAT?

no he means 54 on verbal. He improved to 600 on SAT.
