Are there any good sites out there that can help me improve the way I write an essay?

More specifically, when I'm timed (e.g. the New SAT), and when I have time (ie. college essay, scholarship, etc.).

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say, but you really can't change how you write! I use to be bad at timed things, but I just got use to it...

thats such bull ****, of course you can change how you write. How would anyone ever be able to write in the first place if they could never change their style of writing. That is a dumb comment. I would recommend talking to your english teacher, or just looking at prep books. Identify your weakness and then work on fixing it.

I went to www.collegeboard.com and it gave me 10 tips on how to write better. Ex. Write for fun, keep a writing journal, respond to daily prompts and read tough challenging works that make you think. Also, I believe the AP English Language/ Composition class gears students towards writing different styles of essays.

Ryan2288, I'm srry, I was just basing it on my experiences. I find it hard to just forget how you believe (what you write) for something that seems forced.

:-(

I have some tips on writing college essays and AP essays on a web-site I made: http://pantheon.yale.edu/~nyl2/frappuccino/

As for SAT II: Writing, I'm planning on updating an SAT II Wr on the site during holiday recess. For now in a nutshell... SAT prompts are all the same. Quote, agree, disagree, or qualify (?)--I think those are the choices they give you. They care much more about form than content. Make sure you have good organization (intro, paragraph 1: example, paragraph 2: example, paragraph 3: example, conclusion). Know how you will structure your essay before you go to the test and come up with examples during the test. That way, all you have to do is plug in the examples which will save you so much time, not to mention have a more organized essay.

Good luck!
