Both magazines are absolutely phenomenal resources that can be used to improve critical reading skills. However I want to hear what you guys think is the better magazine and the reason why you think so.

Economist is much much more well written...but honestly it doesn't matter. Just read, I have read all my life (anything from sites like this to cnn.com to the economist to newsweek to novels and it all helps. At this point though, it won't really help your CR scores...reading is more of a long term answer to that, if you have always done it.

read either one...I dont think it even matters that much. I like the economist b/c they have more argument pieces

I personally prefer The Economist as it addresses a wider variety of topics than does Time. However, you should take into account that it has a substantial right-wing bias (the same applies to Time, but to a lesser extent since it tends to shy away from overly politicized editorial comments). If you're looking for a magazine which presents a perceptive and accurate world-view, neither would be a good choice. I suppose you don't care about that, though, since you simply want to increase your CR score; in that case, I would suggest The Economist as it is generally better-written.

i think Time is more of "im waiting for breakfast, i ll read it" kind of thing. You dont really have to focus much. The vocab isn't that difficult and you dont have to put a lot of energy into concentration on what you're reading. National Geographic on the other hand (sorry going off here but still), has tons of SAT words and the sentence structure really makes you pay attention (if you wanna understand what's going on in the article at least)

I think Time is very difficult to read. It's hard for me to understand where it starts an argument or develop a thesis. Too much stuff in an article and lots of vocab

^ are you kidding me? It's like reading a 9th grade book. The sentence structure is simple and the vocab is barely there. It's a good knowledgeable read(you can find great essay examples from the articles they cover) but it isnt particularly hard to understand. Even for me! and i suck at reading..

If you suck at reading take Time. After you get comfortable with the language there then read the Economist.

Time magazine....sigh. If only my English professors were here to rant about it.

Go with the Economist.
