just wondering, are Time Magazine articles good for CR? Do you guys think they help? Like for difficulty level and vocabulary.

i read the new yorker, which is a pretty popular magazine among many highly skilled writers. you should definitely read that, it was really helpful for me.

the thing is, we have a subscription to TIME.

I would say TIME is quiet good for CR. However, it gives you exposure to mainly political or economic articles. It usually doesn't have "literature" passages with similes, metaphors etc. (New Yorker)

I feel that all the significant that TIME has held in the history of US media is all but gone. There is too much "fluff" I think. The same for Newsweek. [though I profess I do not read them as often]

The New Yorker is a very good choice. I like the Smithsonian, too - it's a great magazine that is generally about culture and social history.

For newspapers, the New York Times is great. I have been reading the Times daily and I believe that it does have a significant effect on my correct knowledge of formal words and idioms.

uhm Idk why you claim that time is full of fluff especially when you are admitting you don't read them often. TIME is great

Haha I read Time and Newsweek and got a 800CR 760WR. So, I suppose it's helped me. But reading magazines purely to improve your score won't go very far-you won't be exposed to that much vocabulary in as short a time. Nevertheless, the regular exposure to high-level vocab does help. I'm not too sure about the passage interpretation skills, I share Jacksparrow's doubts.

Read books

I second Kiptok.

lol im not much into reading novels, i like TIME with its mundane affairs and all. Although i do read books about global companies like Microsoft and Google etc occasionally.
