I knew that life would work no matter what.

@1M5AT17AN Do you know anyone who barely made it into IMSA but decided to stay at IMSA and still getting good grades?

/1M5AT17AN I think you are confusing median and average…have you taken MSI? Good advice though about chilling and relaxing. Avi and Priya, just do your best with your apps. There are too many unknowns about who they will accept. As I said earlier, who knows how much the pressure from legislators affect the admission policies. IMSA is about 50% Asian and the state has less than 10% Asian. Good luck!

@1M5AT17AN we were referring to your sat scores, but it’s fine and you’re right. I actually saw a post by a guy who got a 480 cr and 610 math both under the average, the reading wayyyy under and he got waitlisted and in so hopefully I get in since my math is 700 and reading is mid 500 to possibly low 500, I found out on the 25th.

@1M5AT17AN Priya and I are Asian as well :).

@AviSaxena33 could you post a link to that post of the person who got a 480 CR and 610 Math SAT score?

@kidfood You are at the very end of that post. It was the tigerman one the guy who got 480 cr and stuff was farriswheelerz.

@AviSaxena33 Oh yea, I forgot about that. That really boosted my confidence after I read that last year. It could also be that because English may not be his first language, but anything could of gone down during admissions.

Yeah mine too, but then on the higher end, you have kids like pranav sivakumar. Anyway, in all honesty, I feel like I stand out enough from the other applicants and hopefully that’ll help.

@AviSaxena33 He’s just crazy, he would probably be one of those outliers. I mean, come on, 2nd in the spelling bee? That’s countless hours of work and his work at the GSF is hard to achieve considering it’s a world wide competition. I’m pretty pretty sure admissions offices were laughing as they accepted him since he was probably a huge outlier.

@kidfood Yes that’s very true, but who knows what will happen this year. It is my dream to get into IMSA and really the only thing I’m looking forward to for the next few years before college.

Honestly. @AviSaxena33 @kidfood Pranav Sivakumar is someone that is amazing, and everything. It’s amazing how he manages to do all that and still get great grades at school. But you have to remember that most people aren’t like that. You don’t have to be that outstanding. Just do something that not many other people have done. That’s what IMSA likes. Unique-ness

@priyaluvsbooks @kidfood Yeah again true and I feel we’ve done that as I look through our apps. Anyway, I’ve been confused on this for a while and I did it before but started to think about it again, when they talk about the awards and activities you done from the past 3 years, are they talking about 6-8th grade or 7-9th grade?

they are talking about 7,8,9th grades. @AviSaxena33

Hey! Soo I’m applying this year as an eight grader, but I don’t know if my credentials are very good. My practice SAT scores are 610 math, 580 reading, 590 writing. I’m taking AP Stats right now, and I’ve already taken AP Calculus 1, Honors PreCalc, and all the classes below that. I live in the Chicago area, so it should be a bit harder to get in from here. I’m going to take the real SAT in January at Mundelein. But I’ve heard that to get in as an eighth grader, you need to get higher scores than the freshman?

and priya, what were your SAT scores last year?

No offense or anything, by how are you getting a 610 math score if you’re taking ap stats already? You realize that the SAT goes up to algebra 2 max right? @yka101 I’m saying this because of your current class right now, they may look at your scores as extremely below average not only as the average of IMSA, but in terms of your current class regardless of your grade.

@yka101 my SAT scores last year were 710 Math and 630 Reading. I didn’t make it in so I’m not that great of an example. That is true. You do need to get higher scores than freshman. In this case it doesn’t really matter what race you are, because they view 8th graders all on the same level. It doesn’t matter if you’re Indian, White, Hispanic etc. You have to get above most of the freshman to make it in.

@priyaluvsbooks

@yka101 what?
