IMSA Applicant Class of 2020

FYI - no letters in West Chicago mailboxes today

@dwightkmclovin Yeah, what ShivroniPats said is correct, your SAT and grades are NOT the only thing that IMSA looks at. I got a lower SAT score than you and was still accepted. If you showed a strong interest in math and science, and had good essays/recs you have a good shot.

The post arrived at 4 p.m. today – but no letter. One hour west of Aurora.

@junebee What they said is true, the level of homework changes constantly. Some nights I have no homework while others I’m up till 3-4 in the morning finishing it all. It really depends on what day it is and what classes you’re taking.

If I live 30 minutes away from IMSA, do you guys think I will get my letter tommorow?

@XxSwegLordxX I don’t think you will, I live around 30 mins from Aurora as well and my letter took around 3 days to arrive if I remember correctly

@XxSwegLordxX I bet you money you will get it tomorrow, like 99% or chance. I am expecting my tomorrow and I live 3 hours away

post office transferred letters to the destination post offices today, it will be delivered tomorrow

@javascript hopefully

Thanks @HooHah05 , but can somebody completely explain to me I-days, because don’t think I entirely get them yet.

@dwightkmclovin Basically, I-days are when we sophomores spend the entire day either rushing frantically from study session to study session, or lazing the entire day away while sitting at the sophomore u-bench feeling bad about how we aren’t doing our homework. Sometimes, we have MSI class to go to in the mornings, or we can have nav (a presentation by the faculty on how to survive here). I don’t know in detail what juniors and seniors do, but some of them go to their internships or field trips on I-days. It is claimed that I-days are a day to relax, but that is an utter lie. We do get to sleep in, though.

@dwightkmclovin I-days are the only thing that keeps me alive here. Essentially, every Wednesday we don’t have classes (except if you have MSI) , it’s a free day to do your homework or meme it up with your friends. Most classes will also have study sessions happening on I-days so you can go and get help or just do your homework with a teacher watching over you. They are one of the best things about IMSA.

@dwightkmclovin I-days vary between grade levels. Lemme break it down for you.
Sophomore: Navigation, which is basically like a sophomore discussion group. For those who have MSI you will have the class from either 8:30-10 or 10-11:30. Then various Study Sessions between different classes.
Junior: Internships and SIR
Senior: Internships and SIR
I-days are useful either way, i sleep in till like 9:30 and it is wonderful, also having that extra day to split up the week is something we take for granted as it is so so so useful.

Do you have any regrets about IMSA? (Not necessarily choosing to go (but that too), but also, do you wish you had taken this class instead of that one, tried this club instead of that one, learned how to manage time/love yourself/cope with being away earlier?

Less than 24 hours you guys!!!

Here’s another game:

Would you rather attend Harvard on a full ride for Law OR attend Illinois State at Champagne/Urbana for Applied Mathmatics and Engineering?

I dunno, just trying to pass the time until letters come.

@corrjayna definitely U of I bc I have no interest in going into law. It would be wasted on me. I love math and science (especially math) so much and I hope I get in.

Yall are some memers

Do you guys have nothing to do while waiting for letters? No homework?

@corrjayna I would rather attend Hayward Medicine on a full ride than Law anywhere. even on Mars !!! (heck no law for me!!!) I would prefer UI at Campaign than Law at Hayward.

I think also people here are mostly math/science geeks, so you might want to change the pules of your game
