We attended waitpool meeting at orientation yesterday & I thought I’d share some details for people who are looking for them this year (or in upcoming years).
240 students got acceptance letters this year
85 students got waitpool letters
On June 15, 1 male & 7 female students were called from waitpool & invited to attend for class of 2020
The director of admissions anticipates that she will be calling two more batches of students in July (one batch this week)
Then, she says that there will be many more calls in August as accepted students start packing & facing the reality of the decision to attend - live away from home, leave home school, miss friends & family and, potentially, decide not to attend.
Also, last year, 4 students were called from waitlist on move-in day & invited to attend (and one was called on Junior/Senior move-in day & invited to attend, after an older student decided not to attend, but before classes started for that school year)
When trying to contact students from waitpool, she starts by calling phone number listed first on application. She prefers to contact student directly, not parent. If no answer, she leaves voicemail then tries other phone numbers on application. Then, if still no contact, she emails all email addresses on application. There is no real time limit to reply, but that’s never really been a problem.
The only exception to that is if a student is called on move-in day. She only gives the student an hour to reply before moving on to the next student. So, make sure you have your phones on you, on move-in day!
