BTW @SaltyPeanuts YoloSwagMaster did actually get into IMSA. He lives in my wing, and he seems like a pretty cool guy
@ilikepecans Sorry dude, there’s no real way to ensure qualification, other than to qualify for the USAMO
@MicroPenis I agree. The only way to ensure qualification is most to get a 2400 on the SAT.
BTW, @ilikepecans, bullying is a serious issue: if you are getting bullied a lot, you should definitely talk to an adult. I used to get bullied a lot because I am gay AF, but I never reported it because I had to “look tough.” I finally talked to an adult, and the bullies got expelled and sent to federal prison for hate crimes and homophobia.
But seriously, getting bullied now can traumatize you in the long run. Make friends with good people; they are rare and may come in all different shapes and sizes, but be open and go out of your way to meet new people. The more friends you have, the less bullying will affect you.
If you can’t handle it, make sure to talk to an adult. Nobody is judging you… Nobody will judge you for getting help.
Korean Jesus once said, “Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words can kill you like a hydraulic press.”
@DEEZNUTSARETASTY I disagree. “Gay AF” is simply what he identifies as, and you have no rights to tell him what he can or can’t identify as. Additionally, he doesn’t even go to IMSA, and you can’t expect him to know what is or isn’t proper by IMSA standards.
@DEEZNUTSARETASTY You’re right. That is somewhat offensive and uncalled for.
BTW, are you planning on applying?
This thread has been bombarded with so many trollers and other entities, which makes it very hard to actually get/receive any advice.
yes this true @MicroPenis and I have become very good friends.
@DEEZNUTSARETASTY Dude, just cause someone has hot af stats does not mean they are gonna be auto accepted into IMSA. Your personality and character also play a role; its not like the best SAT score wins.
@SaltyPeanuts There is the traditional path to IMSA (heavily reliant on SAT scores and GPA), and the unorthodox path to IMSA (heavily reliant on teacher recs and essays). I have seen kids from Naperville go either route, so honestly choose your path.
Wow there’s so many trolls on here this year… anyone remember the two people plotting to move to the middle of nowhere on class of 2019 forums?
Anyways, just some general advice, they’re very selective about 8th grade applicants (there’s only about 11 of us in class of 2019), so don’t be too disappointed if you don’t get in and try again next year.
Um apparently ‘trollers’ is a swear word okay then
^ same
Hey y’all, I’m a member of the Class of 2019 (I was on this thread last year). Looks like my classmates are mostly covering applications advice, but feel free to hit me up with questions on that or on life at IMSA!
Also, for those of you that don’t know, if you live reasonably close to IMSA you’re allowed to shadow a student here for a day. It helps a lot if you’re on the fence about living here!
@lsutigers If you are looking for good advice, here is a really good article on wiki encyclopedia that I found about IMSA:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Motor_Sports_Association
Hopefully, this can help you.
^this helped me greatly on my acceptance into the school.
hi,
I have a few questions about IMSA -
- what is a reasonable GPA to aim for?
- how often are sport practices?
- I applied last year in 8th grade and didn't make it in (not that I aimed to - just to have a feel what its like; i want to seriously apply this year). do they consider last year's app info?
EDIT: just a typo I found haha
- the most reasonable GPA to aim for is as high as you possibly can get it!!11! while that may not be a 4.0, it's definitely possible to get something close, as long as you put your heart into it!!!!!1
- sports are actually decently involved at our fine academy. practices are usually everyday from around 4:30 to 6:30
- not particularly, but they may use last year's info to judge your growth. if you're a more appealing applicant this year compared to last year, they'll definitely take notice of the improvement and increased effort!!1
you’re really really funny man. i want to tell you something funny too! you’re in no position to be judging people who have already been admitted to this school during a more competitive time frame. in fact, if by chance you don’t get in this year, i want you to know exactly how embarrassing that would be, considering that imsa is just begging for people to admit :^)
@jxuwyrm
As mentioned on page 8, SaltyPeanuts was rejected as a freshman and cannot apply again.
It’s a shame he was rejected, because he would have been placed into LinAlg, which is probably a class you won’t ever take.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year.
And have fun at UIUC :^)
@PLZSTOPTROLLS Did you just assume my gender???
I identify as an Apache Attack Helicopter.
