Well, somehow I do not believe @megegg… sorry. Why would they accept a random person from a street if there are plenty of well-qualified people on a wait list… Also previous post looks like a bull… I do not believe it. Who would say about themselves: “my mental capacity is incredibly vast”…
Just wondering if there are any normal people are planning to apply to IMSA?
@javascript they are obviously all joking. Made me laugh though
@XxSwegLordxX I really hope they are joking or I really don’t stand a chance. @javascript I’d like to think I’m normal enough for an IMSA applicant, but it’s safe too assume that anyone that is seriously considering applying to and attending IMSA isn’t very mainstream.
@Whitekidballer Jimmy, if i make into IMSA, I will personally be your indentured servant for the rest of my time there.
Hi, I’m in 7th grade and I was wondering if anyone could suggest any extracurricular activists for science or math. My school doesn’t offer much besides a robotics/innovation club that I’m not in because I dislike the teacher (he’s kinda creepy). Thanks for any help.
Hello, I am a 9th grade asian male from the Chicagoland area applying for IMSA class of 2020. I want to know what my chances are to get accepted at IMSA. Unfortunately, I just found out about the school’s existence, have not attended any of their introductory presentations or programs, so any advice in general would be greatly appreciated.
Anyways, here are some of my academic stats:
710 math and 660 reading & writing on the new SAT(I plan to take another in January)
I am homeschooled, so I have no GPA, but I am currently in Hnrs. Alg2/PreCalc and Acc. Biology(with As and Bs)
Invited to local high school’s STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program
I don’t have any teacher recs, again because I am homeschooled
I’m not sure if this matters, but I have a WISC-IV IQ score of 163
Extracurricular activities:
Travel/Club Soccer
Wrestling(2nd Conference, 2nd Regional, 3rd Sectional, State Qualifier); Vice Captain
Track and Field(Conference Champion, Regional Champion, Sectional Champion, 20th State); Captain
Volunteer at local TV station as technical assistant and editor
Awards:
I lack severely in terms of awards, because once again I am homeschooled. The only notable award I got in in the last 3 years is the President’s Award for Educational Excellence(which I’m sure EVERYONE here has received).
Once again, any feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you, and good luck to everyone applying!
@lsutiger25 If u come to IMSA, Jimmy and I will be your indentured servants for the rest of our time at IMSA.
@YoloSwagMaster idk my dude that December SAT lowkey might have destroyed or improved my chances into IMSA quite unpredictable :3
I felt the reading and no calc section were harder than the practice tests. Hoping for at least a 740 in math and a 650 in reading
Yeah, I thought those sections were harder than normal too. I didn’t even get to all the questions in the no calc section. Hoping for 670 reading and 650 math. Fingers crossed.
lol I wish they graded the SAT on a curve cause math no calc was a disaster and yeah lots of my friends said math no calc this time was harder than usual.
Sigh the competition in neuqua is insane everyone applying has SAT scores over 1400 and three people have over 1500
@lsutiger25 Do you think you got a good SAT score? My friend from Naperville Central got a 2400, and he was waitlisted. He also happened to be a freshman USAMO qualifer. You should try the AMC. IMSA applications have a separate section for AMC and AIME scores. All the people that I know from Naperville who got in were AIME qualifers.
BTW @YoloSwagMaster I don’t believe that you actually got accepted. You seem rather under-qualified.
@MathL0ver IMSA applications don’t care about most awards received on the state level or how old you are. I don’t think you have a good chance at making it, unless you have already qualified for the USAMO. The only other extra-curriculars you did were not math and science related. They also don’t care about AP courses. You also seem rather cocky, which I am sure, will be reflected in your essays.
Hello, I agree with @SaltyPeanuts You don’t really stand a chance @MathL0ver unless you do something really good. One kid I know went to USA TST in middle school. This is very good, especially for a middle schooler, and is probably why he got in. I think his name was Jonathan? He was from Naperville
@SaltyPeanuts Yo, are you Jonathan L from Kennedy Junior High? Dude, you were a GOD. I remember when you qualified for MATHCOUNTS nationals. I made an account just to say Hi. IMSA is cool, but I kinda regret coming here. I could have taken Linear Algebra at North Central College.
@MicroPenis Dude, you are pretty lucky you got in. LinAlg at North Central is so bloody boring and easy. I’m taking 4 classes at community college right now. 11 hours of sleep every night is pretty awesome, though.
@SaltyPeanuts That sucks, man. Hopefully, you can still get into a decent college. I’m going to take LinAlg at IMSA second semester this year. MVC is hard as hell.
@SaltyPeaunts. really
Hi everyone! What do you think my chances are of making IMSA? I’m currently an eighth grader at Carmel Middle School, which is pretty competitive, so I’m not sure.
I took the old SAT and got a 1950 (700 math, 660 writing, 590 critical reading). I am planning to take the New SAT, and my scores on practice tests are around 1200. I’m not sure though, because I usually do worse on the real thing, and <1100 seems like a bad grade, which would be really sad.
I am currently part of our middle school math team. It’s one of the best math teams in the nation (one guy from our school won national math counts recently!!), and i’ve done really well in the past. I also do Science Olympiad and Robotics Team. I’ve also taken a few online classes in computer programming.
I really really really need to get in. Even though our school is good at math, I still get bullied all the time and it makes me depressed. I really need to go to IMSA! What can I do to guarantee I get in??
