@Tandoorhut I think that depends on what you want. I know a fair amount of people who got off the waitlist, so if you think you would do well at IMSA and are willing to be anxious over it then I would suggest you stay. If you would rather not go to IMSA or if you think that you would rather know that you didn’t make it then you could get taken off. I think it boils down to whether you are willing to be nervous over acceptance and if you got accepted would you go. If the answer is no then I would suggest you not be on the waitlist, but if it’s yes then I would suggest you stay.
I made it!!
@hal0713 nice job!
We are out of town and will not be able to read mail until next week. Does anyone know how long one has to accept/decline offers? The email from IMSA stated, ‘If you are offered a seat here at the Academy, the turnaround time in which you will need to either accept or decline the offer is very short.’.
Thanks
@just_try I am passionate about attending IMSA, but I don’t want know if it’s worth waiting another 2-4 months. And plus from my demographic group I think that getting of the wait list is difficult, so maybe it’s just better if I continue at my current high school.
@SchoolInfo1 I think May 7
@SchoolInfo1 On my letter it says May 7th, so I think you’ll be okay.
@Tandoorhut if you really want to go to IMSA, stay in the waitpool. You don’t know what might happen. But you will have to do the placement tests and orientation that accepted students do. Good luck!
@tabbychiro @just_try Thank you for all your insight. On average, how many people get off the waitlist every year?
@Tandoorhut I’m really not sure, it depends a lot on how many people accept, if anyone drops over the summer or if people don’t fill out registration correctly. I know they accept as many people as they have room for, but that varies each year, so I’m not sure.
@just_try Thank you for the information! I guess I’ll just have to see how it goes.
I am wait listed this year.
I would expect maximum 10 boys and 10 girls got off the wait list every year. I may be wrong?
Does anyone know last couple of years statistics?
@wowbears You are right, they probably don’t take more than 20 kids off the waitlist.
@wowbears thanks!! and honestly, i think you’ll be fine - i have faith in you! hope to see you in the fall and if i don’t, i know you’ll succeed no matter what:)
Does an 8th grade interview make a difference of whether a 9th grade applicant is taken off the waitlist?
Hi! I have a question about the eighth-grade interview since I am in eighth grade. How will you know if you got the interview? I got rejected btw. (Just opened the letter today).
I really, really want the interview and I don’t know what further steps need to be taken, so if anyone can see this I would appreciate any answers about the interview.
@Limelight101 In your letter there should be a paragraph that will invite you to schedule a meeting with a member of the admissions team, this is the interview.
Oh- I didn’t get anything like that. I just hope I still have a chance of making it when I apply again freshman year.
