So it sounds like it’s normal to just wear what you already had, and not buy a lot of new fashionable things in college…that sucks. And yes, my parents paid for all the clothes I ‘needed’ and then fun, extra things I had to buy with my own ‘fun’ money that they gave me for good grades or whatever.

what I’ve observed is that yes, people still shop for or look at superfluous things like clothes and shoes, but they probably do it online mostly. in large lectures, I always see about 3-4 girls at a time on their laptops looking at clothes online. not all college towns have malls and shopping centers nearby, not everyone has loads of time to waste on weekends, and not everyone has the money to do more than look

@PurpleDuckMan- Yeah my parents paid for a lot of stuff, but I didn’t have time to have a job. If I had the time for it, then they would have made me use some of that $ for practical stuff too. But no, I’m not super rich or anything if that’s what you’re implying.

I’ve never gone shopping “for fun,” but I’m sure you’ll meet people who are into that. No, people in college don’t just party for fun. If you put a high value on buying the latest clothes, go for it, just make sure you aren’t wasting all your money on buying clothes that you wear for one “season” then stop wearing.

I mean, I would do online shopping every now and then, but people don’t really go shopping for fun in college. It really depends on the person I guess.

Probably depends on the person and how much money they have. I don’t buy clothes for fun. I buy clothes I need to look good lol or winter clothes. I like to read a lot so I guess you could say I buy books for one when I need a new one.
