I cant decide where to go to school and I'm getting really nervous because I dont know how I am going to choose a school.
I was accepted to: Northwestern, Rice, Tufts, Wash U, UCLA(honors program), UCBerk and UCDavis (Regents Scholar)
I have basically decided I am going to go to one of the UCs because the privates are too expensive and I dont know if i want to be that far from home. So now I'm down to UCLA, UCBerk and UCDavis. I like them all for different reasons. I'm from norcal so I'm about an hour from davis and 20 minutes to Berkeley. I have a few friends at Cal and lots at Davis but none at LA.
I can't decide if the Regents scholarship and Integrated Studies program make Davis worth turning down LA and Berk. I'm not too crazy about the campus of Davis but its a nice distance from home and the people are cool.
I know I'm not really wild about the city of LA, but the campus is really nice. I've heard its a pretty superficial school, but I don't really think thats true. The honors program seems good, but not anything phenomenal.
I love berkeley, I've been a cal fan since the womb, but I didn't get any honors offers there and I'm worried its a little too close to home, I want to have a new experience.
I don't know what I want to study yet, so that cant really be a factor in my decision. Does anyone know anything about the Regents Program or have ANY INPUT WHATSOEVER. I just keep going over these things in my head, and I honestly think I would like all of them, but I have no gut decision leading me one way or the other. PLEASE HELP thanks

I think you would enjoy Los Angeles. Like you said, Berkeley is too close and Davis isn't as great academically, or location wise. I'm from Souther California, and I was basically in the same situation as you, except reverse. LA is too close for me, Davis with regents was nice but not nice enough, and Berkeley seems great- good distance and great area/school. Have you spent any extended period of time in Los Angeles before? It is truely an AMAZING place to be... if I didn't live so close, I would almost guarenteed pick LA over Berkeley.

The best way to pick a college, when you're in a situation like that, is to just spend a day walking around the campus. Imagine yourself there. If something seems wrong, then it probably isnt the place for you.

i visited all the places and I can honestly say i liked them all. I probably liked the acutal LA campus the best, but didn't like the city.

I have lived in So Cal all my life. If you don't like LA, you are not going to like living there. The Bay Area is just too different. If you can spend a day at each school before May 1st then do it.

You'll be on UCLA's campus most of the time. You won't even see the real LA unless you take a bus and venture out.

You sound like me. I got Regents at Davis, Irvine, and SB. Got into UCLA honors and Berkeley as well as U Mich-Ann Arbor, Washington, Cornell so basically same boat as you...and I'm at Berkeley. I didn't like LA either and Davis's campus is nauseating.

I'd say choose Berkeley.
