i'm currently a sophomore in highschool. My weighted GPA is 4.18 and im rank 14 from my class. Recently i got my first b in a class which was AP government. I ended up with an 88. Since its weighted i get the 5 points. Also, im planning on taking the ap test, which if passed, will add another 5 points to the grade. Im so bummed out :( how bad will this affect me? im so worried :(

apart from that i need more help! ive decided to concentrate HARD on school. More than i ever have before. What do i need to do to make my college application way better? im applying to national honor society in my school. Im in some clubs. and i played JV soccer freshman and sophomore. also i want to get into top 5 of my class. What should i focus on? What should my priorities be?

please, i am in need of some help!!

also sorry if this was in the wrong section. i couldnt find where to post this

One B will not kill your chances. If you are like 99 percent of high schoolers you will get more eventually. Don’t do ECs for colleges (not only will it be obvious to colleges but you will be miserable), do ECs that you truly enjoy. Personally I have made grade sacrifices because of my ECs, it is a choice everybody has to make. Most people cannot maintain perfect grades and be deeply involved in ECs.

Rather, try to aim for the big-name schools when med school applications come around the corner… you might want to have as little debt as possible from undergrad.

It’s not necessarily a given that big-name schools are deflating, since the biggest grade inflaters are big-name schools (Brown, Duke, Harvard, for example) However, what I CAN do is advise you not to aim for Purdue or GA Tech.
