In need of some transfer advice

Currently I am in my second year at a local community college in Connecticut. I am just tired of being at home and wanted to transfer out after this semester. I applied to a couple out of state schools and over the past few weeks I didn't think I would get in so I started getting used to the idea of transferring to Eastern Connecticut State University. I got a surprise in the mail the other day and found out I got into Coastal Carolina University. I am having a hard time deciding whether or not it is a good idea to pack up and go down there after this semester or just go to Eastern. My mother is pressuring me to apply to UCONN but I know I don't have the grades to get in. My current gpa is a 2.9 and I had poor stats in high school. I plan on going into sports management.

So I guess my decision is should I apply to uconn and should I spend more money and go further away or pay less and go to a school closer to home?

Coastal is about 26,000 a year with the housing and Eastern is 18,000 a year

Coastal Carolina University doesn’t seem to be a great value at $26,000. No offense but It seems like a third tier LAC in the middle of nowhere. Beng too far from home is overrated and for some it can be quite depressing. $8,000/year is really a big difference in tuition as well.

Are you a freshman. If so, you can wait another semester or 2, raise your GPA to above 3.0-3.4 and you can possibly get into UConn. That is what I would do. But in your position, I would choose Eastern Connecticut State Unversity over CCU.

I am a sophomore right now. I guess if I really want to go to UConn I can wait it out through the year and apply for Fall 2011? I guess I am going to apply for UConn for the spring because you never know really. I am going to go visit ccu soon to see how I feel about it.
