I am currently a freshman at Eastern Connecticut State University. I was accepted to better places, but nowhere I really saw myself going for all 4 years. So i decided to attend Eastern, get my grades up and transfer somewhere that I really like.

My high school GPA was a 3.0 weighted and was a complete result of a lack of effort. However was very involved with clubs, community service, and was employed for a year.

I wish i could go back and whip myself into shape however it is too late. My SATs are : CR 550 M 550 W 500 so a 1600.

After my first semester at Eastern my GPA is a 3.83 out of 4.0 and I see myself matching that if not getting higher next semester. Involved in the Economics club, Campus Activity Board, and an intramural sports player.

I am an undecided major and am thinking of applying to UCONN, Syracuse, Maryland, Pitt, Trinity and possibly UNC Chapel Hill as a reach.

Are my chances legitimate? Where else should I look for? I want to make sure I get accepted for the Fall 2012 semester to at least one school.

Thanks

Have you talked to a counselor at your college? They should have the best idea, particularly for UConn and Trinity since they likely have many transfers to these schools.

Are you OK paying full OOS tuition for UMD, Pitt and possibly for the privates as well?

Tuition is not a major factor I did not elect that I am applying for financial aid, simply would want an acceptance and on campus housing!

BUMP…any help is appreciated!

your thread looks identical to that of rose03. i am going to give you the same advice.

check their transfer admission page. colleges tend to look carefully at high school stats if you have finished less than one year of college at the time of application. a 3.0 GPA and SAT score of 1600 isn’t very competitive. i would suggest waiting another semester before applying.

you should also consider Penn State, Rutgers (the school I transferred to), Binghamton, Delaware, William and Mary, and U Virginia.

I do not understand how it is identical when they had a 3.5 gpa and mine is a 3.83

BUMP…anybody else?

You have almost no chance at UNC. It’s just the honest truth.

On the brighter side, I think the other schools are all very much within reach.

UCONN is probably the easiest (in-state, I’m assuming)
Then, probably Syracuse, then Pitt, and Maryland.
Trinity would be a reach, but not in the same level as UNC.

Look at SUNY Binghamton, Rutgers, and TCNJ.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was pretty sure UNC was out of the question but where else would you think as a reach school? Is Wake Forest also too large of a reach? or Connecticut College?

Thanks
