How does Pace notify their decision? Their academic decision came in snail mail and it took 12 days after they said they mailed… I am hoping we don’t have to wait for that long AFTER an artistic decision is made.
Several MT candidates received acceptance phone calls yesterday. Have all the phone calls for MT been made? If you didn’t get a phone call yesterday and have already been accepted academically should you expect a denial or alternate/wait list letter at this point? @PacePerfArts
Hi all - Some MT decisions have been made for those already academically admitted and who ONLY auditioned for MT. We still have one last weekend of auditions for the other seven programs. I asked the faculty to pause on the phone calls until I can catch up with the official decision letters which I will start printing on Monday. I’m a one-person office here and the letters have to be 100% perfect, so yes, it takes a few weeks to get the decisions out. And my printer is slow.
Thanks @PacePerfArts - so there are some calls for academically admitted kids who only auditioned for MT still to be made? Thanks for clarifying for all us nervous parents and kids!
@jbrideau Not all have been called yet and the alternate and waitlisted students are called on a rolling basis (provided they’ve been admitted) through mid-April. They are first notified through letter though.
Thanks so much @PacePerfArts!
Thanks so much @PacePerfArts!
Can you tell me what number they called from? My son had a missed call from a Pace 800 number
Are there auditions at Pace today?
Pace does still have acting auditions this weekend. MT may be completed.
My D got a call from Pace yesterday and they said “Congratulations on your acceptance!” She got so excited but they were talking about her academic acceptance which she received a few month ago! They were just “checking in.” Don’t they know that MT kids are expecting calls?
so as somebody who was academically accepted and only auditioned for the Musical Theatre program but has not received a call, should I assume I have not been accepted (but could be waitlisted or an alternate) or are there still calls for those academically accepted and only mt auditionees that have not gone out yet?
Calls still going out
Last year, my child didn’t get “the call” until 3/25 (and was an admit, not an alternate). it takes time for them to make all the phone calls and wade through the various hoops of the university. don’t despair and as a parent who went through this 4 times–3 with theater kids (hence the clever user name) it does all work out for those who choose to make it work. so if it is not here it will be somewhere and you will find your way! but i know how nerve racking this all is and my heart goes out to each and everyone of you. breathe. xoxo
Good advice @4thtime We need your knowledge! Would love to hear what your kids are up to now if some have already completed college.
My oldest graduated from Tisch last May and is waiting to hear from law schools (ended up deciding that producing/entertainment law was where she wanted to be). The second one left school after a semester and is a professional actor. The third is (a non-theater kid) at Barnard. And the baby is at Pace. So four totally different experiences and yet they are all finding their way. It’s so hard when you are in the middle of all of this (believe me, I was nuts) but all I can say is to love your kid, be their cheerleader and have faith that whatever wacky turns their lives take that they will find what makes them happy and that they will be okay. Be their soft place to land and do your best to not transfer your anxiety on to them. It is so so hard for them to be “rejected” (and rejection is something that they will deal with forever if this is what they end up doing) that it is made so much worse when they feel like they have disappointed you as well. Obviously if you are on here you are a parent who loves your kid so much it hurts and you just want what is best for them. Just try not to get caught in the rat race of the name of the school or collecting acceptances like trophies. Help your kid make the best choice for them within the confines of what is affordable. Life is long and college, while it seems so huge now, is just a blip on the journey! Crossing fingers and toes for you all!
Thank you so much. What a journey you have been on and are still on. Good reminders not to get caught up in the names, etc My daughter has already had a huge rejection in the college process and still feels the sting but was able to move on. She will have many more to face. The bravery and perseverance of these kids amazes me. Good to hear about kids that have gone through it and taken different paths and are all finding happiness. Thank you for the great advice
@bfahopeful it is one wild ride and watching your baby suffer rejection is so difficult for her (and you). I do it practically daily with the professional kiddo and it’s lots of reminding her that it’s about pushing against that giant flywheel (a business metaphor). It’s so heavy that you don’t feel it moving but if you keep applying the force it eventually moves and then flies down hill. just keep pushing and wherever she ends up encourage her to make the best of it–there are lots of great programs out there and I do believe that things work out best for people who make the best out of how things work out! again, easier said than done when you are on this side of the college decisions but hang in there it will get better! I look forward to good news for your kiddo!
Thanks! All very true. my D does have a good option or two and is waiting on other decisions. Despite the first and early letdown she feels very blessed to have the opportunities she does and to have been able to audition for so many wonderful people and schools. I agree things work out as they should. I suspect she will end up right where she was meant to be - she just didn’t realize it at first.
has anyone else received a phone call from the MT department regarding an acceptance into the program? I am anxiously waiting to hear back, and PACE is my top choice! Good luck to all in the same boat. Break a leg with all of your other acceptances!
