In SCEA: Applying elsewhere?

mit, brown, williams, swarthmore. i am doing this at my parents' wishes. ive already applied to unc, and ive crossed off harvard, yale, duke, pomona, and carleton from my original list. i think i'll go to stanford.

Applying to Pomona, Harvard, Yale, and Rice. Pomona because both my sisters went there, and Harvard and Yale just for kicks. (And I already did them) Stanford wasn't so generous with their financial aid plan, so I hope I can still go there. =/

OK, so did you send in those last minute essays and application fees or did you bag it? I ended up applying to three other schools regular admit, but they will have an uphill climb to overcome Stanford.

yeah I was almost gonna apply to Pomona cuz it does sound like a really great school, but I doubt they'll give me much better financial aid so oh well. :)

yeah I ended up not applying to Pomona for the same reason

Pomona gives a crapload of fin aid. Both my sisters got loads more than I got from stanford. (About 10k more.)

They use a combination of institutional and federal methodology, which is often more generous, and stanford only uses institutional. I don't know if I could have negotiated very well. And what I would have gotten out of negotiating, I would have used up anyways through outside scholarships.

^ thats true...and besides, Stanford > Pomona.

HYP for kicks and because I hate turning things in right before the deadline + I spent quite a bit of time on those essays

Is anybody here planning to spend April at one or more admit weekends, with the decision in the balance? Any such trips conflict with Stanford's admit weekend?

I may be visiting one or more schools in April. I'm going to try to make Stanford admit weekend, but if the other schools' admit weekends conflict, I'm sure they'll accommodate overnights on other dates.

i didnt send in my other apps, to make room for the "less fortunate"
