In school suspension

Something just occurred to me. On my common application I stated that I had never been suspended from school, but I just now remembered that I had an in-school suspension during my sophomore year. I got into a verbal argument with a classmate and called him a certain 7-letter profanity. Would this show up on my transcript?

Should I be worried? Would it be smart to call up Pepperdine now and let them know?

I would talk to your high school counselor first, explain the situation and see what he/she says. I would not be too worried about it, Pepperdine has your transcript already that includes sophomore year. They are just waiting for final Sr. grades.

Also, consider that admission folks from Pepperdine may be readers of this forum.

If they were smart, they would be - it’s a good place to get insights into what prospective students think.

I know at least two other colleges that my D is interested in where deans of admission are active participants in their respective school’s CC forums. They don’t just read, they also post, quite frequently, and it is a good thing…

I understand. I’m not trying to deceive anyone honestly. I literally just remembered it last night (why, I don’t know). It was so minor, I think all that happened was that I had to miss one of my classes and sit in my counselor’s office for an hour, so it was a pretty forgettable moment. I feel bad that I checked no on the “were you ever suspended/expelled” box on the commonapp, but it was an honest mistake.

I’m just curious as to whether Pepperdine already knows about this since I’ve already been accepted.

edit: I emailed my counselor about it, but she’s on vacation right now :(

TheGoodDoc - DON’T WORRY. I wouldn’t fret about it, and I might even delete this thread if I were you.
In-school suspension is taken in the same light as detention — I mean, that’s what it is… You’re being detained. Being suspended — removed from school altogether — because of a violent offense or drug possession, now that would be of interest to a university.

You didn’t make a mistake. You have never been suspended in the traditional sense of the word. In-school “suspension,” but actually detention, doesn’t count :)
