In serious need of finding a safety!!!!

Male, middle class, MA state residency
Stats: 1890 SAT 3.5 GPA UW, 4.1 W, US History subject test 700
AP Classes: APUSH, AP English, AP Psych, AP Micro, AP Euro, AP Stats, AP English Literature

Soccer Captain, youth soccer coach, soccer all league selection, Key Club, National Honor Society, other misc. service activities, club soccer, track

Looking for safety schools. Interested in majoring in international affairs or political science. I'm really only considering schools that are respectable in those areas.

Paying for college isn't a problem so I'm not looking for huge merit scholarships, just a place where I'd be very likely to be accepted to. Not entirely against using UMass as my safety, but I'd rather leave my hometown/surrounding area for college. Thanks, and I'll chance anyone who wants it

Was thinking Trinity and Connecticut College but probably more of a match; how about Clark or U Vermont if you want to stay New England. If you are willing to go to the midwest, Denison in Ohio or Ohio Wesleyan could be closer to safeties than matches, though still not certain admission. Muhlenberg and Alleghany College get good press, though I am not personally familiar with them.

Syracuse as match, UConn as safety

Thanks! I’ve applied ED to George Washington University and I’m just preparing myself for another round of apps should the worst happen

Have you asked your (middle class) parents if they can afford OOS schools? For instance tuition, room and board costs >$60K/year at GWU.

Just to clarify: middle class in my community is around a 200k-400k income. Also, my parents have been saving up for college since I was an infant. We can cover any cost

University of Denver if you like the idea of being in Colorado

I’ll certainly look into the University of Denver because of the Korbel School of International Studies

DU is an excellent school, and it’s a great location if you like being in a city

(Middle class isn’t 200-400k - just so you know… you mean “average in my community”. 200K is upper middle class, or upper 2% in the country.)
Villanova, Muhlenberg, Marist, Creighton, UVermont, Colorado Boulder, UWashington would all be safeties for you.

^Yes I misphrased it. Thank you
