In-State admission / Tuition question

My children are going into 11th grade this year in Georgia. I will be transferred to Florida in 6 months and will be living in FL for at least 12+ months prior to college start date. We will be submitting taxes from FL address.

My wife will stay back in GA for my kids to complete the School, we have a house in GA which we will keep till high school is complete. My understanding is that if kids graduated from GA school they are automatically GA residents unless they have break in college.

  1. Which state will my kids qualify for in-state tuition ? When we apply for colleges which one should we claim as residents of ?
  2. Is there any way to claim 2 state residency ?

Thank you.

PS: My wife works from home and planning on claiming FL as primary residence along with me.

Each school defines residency a little differently based on state laws. Here is the link to UGAs: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/georgia-residency Note that:

For FL I’ll use UF as an example: https://www.flvc.org/documents/96858/97588/Guidelines+on+Florida+Residency+for+Tuition+Purposes.pdf/1375dcd4-a273-4319-a833-d54a51f48bbc Look at section 2.2. FL seems to be more lenient than many other states.
