In-State chance?

Hello! I am just hoping to get some insight on if I am a good applicant for UNC.

I'd especially like input on how my course load looks.

SAT Scores:

1st time: 1510 [CR:620, M:440, W:450, E:6]

2nd time: 1780 [CR:690, M:520, W:590, E:8]

3rd time: 1760 [CR:700, Math:500, W:560, E: 8]

Super Score: 1810

I will be taking the ACT this Saturday and might take the SAT again in October, I haven't decided yet.

I took SAT II Lit last week, I think I did well but I am not sure if I am going to take any other subject tests.

ECs:

I have a working student under the UNC-Chapel Hill Equestrian team coach/PE Teacher for the past 5 years. (appx. 25 hours per week)

I have had 2 jobs since I was 15.

I was on my Church's youth Council for 4 years, VP for 1 year, I expect to president senior year.

I've been teaching beginner riding at a summer camp for the past 3 years.

I may be volunteering with a Large Animal Vet this summer.

I have a job lined up at a local pharmacy starting in the fall.

I've bought, cared for, and trained my horse (ex-racehorse) from the ground up with no financial help from my parents. I am very committed to her and that is where the majority of my time is spent out side of school. (appx. 18 hours a week)

I will not need financial aid. My mother and her father both went to UNC.

I am a home schooler.

The other schools I will apply to are NC State, VA Tech, Appalachian, St. Andrews, UNC Charlotte, Campbell University, but UNC is my #1 but also my highest reach.

Thanks!

Your grades and ECs are good. Course difficulty seems a bit sub-par, but they might be a more understanding because of how you’re home-schooled, as well how you made the extra effort to take classes through the internet and through community college.

Your SAT is a bit low. Definitely take the ACT; if you do well, you won’t need to send your SATs at all. If not, then take the SAT again if you think you can get over a 1900 (even though you’ve already taken it 3 times). If you can raise your standardized test score (SAT or ACT), then I think you’ve got a good shot.

By the way, I think for in-state, UNC hardly considers legacy status at all.

If horses are your passion, really make that shine through in your essays.
