In state or out of state

does it help or hurt my chances that im applying to penn state as an in state resident?

I’ve read that PSU does not give geographic preference. Which is weird for a state school. Shouldn’t hurt you don’t worry.

No it does not hurt you. PSU is state related and the university receives very little state support. They could not be biased against state residents as there is political pressure. There is however financial pressure to get out of state $s.

Yea with the prices at U Park I’m surprised that Penn State is still considered to be a state school. What’s the possibility of it becoming a total private school in the future?

“Yea with the prices at U Park I’m surprised that Penn State is still considered to be a state school.”

Absolutely agree! Pennsylvania is like rated number 4 for highest in-state tuition and I know a few years ago PSU was ranked number 1 highest in-state tuition of public universities (I doubt that’s changed). It’s ridiculous!

i’m applying as an OOS applicant. i’m not really worried about paying for tuition because i’m applying for a ROTC scholarship. i’ll still have to pay for room and board though.

i didn’t know that penn state’s tuition was considered to be high. maybe it’s because i applied to a lot of private universities…
