in state or out?

i'm just curious if anyone knows (roughly) the acceptance rate for in-staters vs. out of state. it's interesting, because while i hear it is much easier to get in in state because of their quota, it seems to me that it's actually more competitive in state. i am from out of state (nj) but have a lot of friends from michigan who are smarter than i am and wouldn't dream of applying. because they attend a really good high school, and with the state of michigan's economy, they said they compete with like 70% of the senior class to get into umich. i guess what i'm wondering is if you guys know the break down of acceptance rates and, even if the odds are bettr to get in from in state, could it still be more competitive? i'm just curious.

i think its still much harder to get in from OOS. i go to a feeder school in mich., and i know of probably 50-100 people from my school that were accepted to michigan (class of 500) and only several deferrals
