Hello, I am currently attending UVa, but I am going back to Georgia over the summer. I am applying to UGA as a transient student. I lived in Georgia since 4th-12th grade. However, my mom moved to Maryland just before I enrolled as first year college student. Do I still qualify as in-state residency for GA? (my mom filed her taxes for Maryland). My sister is currently living in GA and attending UGA.

This is from the Georgia State web site but should still apply:
So you would not be able to pay as a resident.

Please search other threads that address this issue. DO NOT think you can sneek under the wire and register instate to save some bucks. It is massively easy to catch people on residency issues. You could be booted out on honor violations, loose your money, be sued for the difference and basically be made miserable.

Good for you for researching this carefully before moving forward. You could check with the college that interests you. Sometimes a college will waive out of state fees for a student that they want (high SATs, athlete, or other category). That way you could be honest and enrolled reasonably. Good luck!
