in state vs. out of state

is it easier to get in if you are from in state or out of state?

There are many factors that play in acceptances, but IN GENERAL, yes it is easier to be admitted from in-state.

That said, they do want OOS students and are trying to up their numbers, so I always encourage OOS to apply if they like UConn.

^ This is true, but to a certain extent. Because of the number of applications being received from OOS, the bar has been raised. On the other side, as a state school, UConn is required to have a certain number of in-state students, so the bar is lower in order to get that number.

Of course, for anyone, if you are in the range of the class profile, and you would want to attend, you should absolutely apply. There is a 100% rejection rate for those who don’t apply.
