How much of a better chance does being in state give you to get in? If you don’t mind can you also explain why?
Public universities have a duty to their taxpayers. I think most devote more resources (seats, financial aid) to state residents. However, I don’t think state residents are competing with OOS students. I think they’re competing with other state residents, so how your application compares to other Michigan students will matter. You have 2 years of high school left, so just do your best. If your stats are competitive for the University of Michigan, then apply. But make sure you have safeties on your list too.
Thanks so much!
