I’m not going to check them until I finish studying and doing homework that night ( praying that my teachers don’t give work) because I know I am going to be an emotional wreck either way. I applied to penn, columbia, yale, Harvard, and princeton. I’ll probably check it harvard, Princeton, yale, then columbia and penn because I’ve already gotten likelies for penn and columbia and my rank went up and my grwdes were the same so I don’t think they’d change their minds. Penn’s huntsman program is my sweet spot so knowing I have that as an option will lessen my feelings about rejections.
I am gong to check at same time. open all the computers at my house , and then it will be like no emotions. I probably won’t even know which school I got accepeted or rejected other than that I have been accepted by some if I see a congratulation some where on a computer. Or rejected by some if the word regret shows up anywhere.
I wish all of you well and hope that you are selected at your top choice schools! There is so much focus and pressure placed on Ivy day. What ever transpires in regard to your results it is not a reflection of your value as a human being or as a student.
I know this is not common but is an example of how things may not always be how they initially seem.
Our daughter was deferred early action at one Ivy and rejected by two Ivies and wait listed by two others. Effectively shut out last year on Ivy day. Given her academic accomplishments this was devastating to her. She did her best to put it in to perspective and she had been admitted at some other very fine schools.
She ended up coming off the wait list at those two Ivies and is at one of them now. Prior to that occurring she was headed to a fine school that she was thrilled about.
I believe her to be very fortunate and I know things don’t always go that way. What I do believe is that after you have given it your all it is healthiest if you let go and trust that what ever is supposed to happen will and be determined to make the best of it.
Sincere Best Wishes to all of you!
Gigantor ,do you mind posting your stats? Great job.
Based upon the drama on the Princeton board regarding who received the email about the release time, and who has yet to receive it, I’m still going to say that not all portals will be updated on time. I’ll read it when it’s updated, I guess.
I’m planning to start with Yale because it’s one of my top choices, then Harvard, Dartmouth (but I have no intention of going there anyway), and then just checking on my last two, Columbia and Brown, both of which I’ve already received likelies. Gotta start with the worst ones because if I get in, I’ll be ecstatic but if I don’t then at least I can look at my last two and be happy about those acceptances.
@GodHelpUs Is your Columbia likely in letter or email?
@boomboom123 I got it in an email first and then a physical copy in the mail a few days later
Penn - Princeton - Harvard - Columbia - Yale
@great kid: I wonder if you have advice for kids that get waitlisted at the Ivys, as yours did, for getting off the waitlist. Its amazing your DD was given a spot at 2 places- must have been a compelling candidate! My DD applied to 3, after ED deferral from Brown. Her stats place her on the edge so we would be lucky for a waitlist or two. Did your daughter express her continued interest and update them on her academics? Who did she contact- the area rep or just Admissions?
@kateheart Doesn’t matter who she contacts, if she wants to get in, the whole committee needs to vote on her, the commitee is usually about 40 people comprised of faculty and admission experts. They all vote and the majority rules, if you want to send in updates, just email it to the office. Given that she is deferred, the commitee probably voted on her already and chose to defer her, so you need to submit updates that would make the committe change that defer to an accept. Each person one vote.
Harvard (just to get it out of the way) > Cornell > UPenn > Brown > Dartmouth.
Not very optimistic, but it’s out of my control anyways.
2 more days guys…
I’m sticking with my ABC order, but I wonder if I will snap mid-decision check and just go to UPenn or Columbia.
Gonna start with the possible bad news and look at Columbia and Harvard first, then Penn and Cornell for the good news, got a likely for both.
I was gonna do it in order of preference: Brown, Penn, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Columbia. Probably won’t get any since I got rejected from Hopkins but I can hope lol.
Probably Harvard and then Brown. I don’t really know why but something about it seems right to me, so I guess I’ll just roll with it.
Only waiting on Harvard, so I’ll be checking once it comes out.
I wanted to do HYP, but I got in HYPSMC in the reverse order so maybe doing that would be luckier… (lol I’m so superstitious don’t mind me.)
I change my mind. I’m doing UPenn, Columbia, and then I’ll just make a checklist of all the rest of the schools and cross them off one by one.
Oh man, I don’t know if I should check my top choice first or save it for last! Probably I’ll do Harvard, Brown, then Columbia.
