1.) In your opinion, which one do you think has the most impact? ECs, Essays or rec? If you got in, which one do you think helped you the most?

2.) By the way, what is considered as a "good" SAT II score for CALS? I received a 700 Chemistry and 730 Math II, are these scores going to hurt me?

1) A combination of strong showings in all three categories is vital for showing fit for Cornell, your individual college’s mission, and your intended field of study.
2) CALS admits by program, so it’s difficult to “chance” as there are going to be different qualifications for AEM or Information Science than there are for, say, Animal or Plant Science, but your scores are at the point where they certainty won’t hurt your application, although for some of the more competitive programs they may not help.

Since Cornell is a highly selective school, then you kind of need all three. That’s the nature of highly selective schools- they admit people with strong EC’s, essays, and recommendations.

If it was a less selective school, then being strong in any one of the three would be fine, but Cornell isn’t.

As for your scores, just realize that the 730 Math II and 700 Chem isn’t that high of a percentile and there are lots of people who scored higher.

ECs, essays, and Recs all harmonize to display personality and accomplishment, which are the two things you really should worry about. It’s kinda stupid to rank these things.
