in your opinion, which looks better:

3.8 gpa/ 3.6 science gpa or
3.7 gpa/ 3.7 science gpa

i am a psychology major, and was wondering if i should take some extra science classes to boost my science gpa. i'm scared that it may lower my overall gpa though if i do not get As in them.

Difference is negligible…

^Agreed. Doesn’t really matter, although I’d say the 3.7/3.7 is probably better in the sense that they’re balanced. OTOH, 3.8 cGPA appears “more impressive.” I guess it really depends who’s looking at it. All-in-all, I’d say it’s negligible. A 3.8/3.7 would be preferable to both!

I’d rather have the 3.7 science. This way, you have a strong science GPA AND you are above average in both GPAs.
