Income?

On the forums here, a lot of CC users who want to get chanced are asked their income because there's a widespread belief that a lower income will equate to higher chances of admission for HYPS-level schools. (It shows that you've overcome obstacles and such, according to the chancers.)

However, I'm filling out the CommonApp right now and I don't see any place where I fill out family income. The only thing they ask is if you're going to apply to need-based finaid, which is a huge income bracket (I don't know the exact figures but it was something like $200,000 to $0 income will qualify for some sort of finaid at HYPS). Am I missing something?

Your HS report (sent by your guidance counselor) will include general demographic data about your school which will report the general poverty level of your district. Other markers will be your parent’s profession and where you live. As well as some schools will see if you applied for FA or not.
