<p>My S is going to be attending Cornell in the college of engineering, intending to be a CS major with a game design minor. Any suggestions on what kind of laptop would be most appropriate for him? He will be getting one as a graduation gift. Is it worthwhile to purchase it through the Cornell shop? He's definitely a PC guy and not a Mac guy, so we're probably looking at choosing a Dell.</p>

<p>If you look on the Cornell Book store website it has a few options, it shows a few different levels of Dell latitudes the nicer ones are like i5 or even i7 so that sounds be good for what you want.</p>
<p>They don’t have any kind of packages where they’d set you up with all the software you need, do they? It seems like you have to buy things like matlab etc. each separately. Is that correct or is there a better way to get the software?</p>
