Hi,
I will be an incoming exchange student for the semester of Spring 2020 at CU Boulder and I have a couple of enquiries.
Firstly, can someone recommend a decent place for an exchange student to stay at? Some conditions that I am looking for are:
- Has activities (Sports club or smth) to get to know new people (Secondary)
- Is fully furnished with furnitures (most importantly a bed)
- Allowable rental for only the period January to May.
p.s. I have looked at The Lotus however I have to rent it till July 31st which is not something ideal for me.
Next, does anyone know a good place to get 2nd hand bikes or smth for my stay in Colorado?
Lastly, are there activities that I can join like roller blading or badminton clubs as an exchange student or does it not matter that I’m an exchange student
Thanks for your help
It will probably be cheaper to live in student (on campus) housing because then you won’t be paying for the summer. Leases in Boulder are always for 12 months, from Aug 15 to July 31-ish (they get 2 weeks for turn over), so even if you take over someone’s lease, they are going to want you to go through July. You are much more likely to get on campus housing for the spring semester.
There will be tons of used bikes, even in January, from $50 to $1000 at the bike shops or thrift shops around town, on craigslist or Nextdoor. With a student ID you’ll also have access (no charge) to RTD, which is the regional and city bus service so you can get around Boulder to to Denver or the Airport. There are scooters everywhere for rent.
Any student can sign up for clubs, intramural sports, use the rec center. Some of the varsity sports events are free or very low cost for students.
Alright, thank you for your help.
I’ll look at campus housing then!
