This is going to be quite a long post, as I am incredibly confused and in need of extensive advice.
I am an incoming freshman for Fall 2009 to the University of Colorado at Boulder. I grew up in South Florida and I have only ever wanted to leave and -unfortunately- that is how I made my decision as to which college to attend. A close friend recommended the University of Colorado at Boulder and because it was so vastly different from South Florida, I decided that that is where I wanted to go. I wanted to experience a large school, nature, the mountains, seasons, snow, etc. From the start, I had every intention of transferring to a school in NY because I plan to double major in Film ( Video Production or Digital Editing, hopefully) and English and I am well aware that you need to be in place where the production is happening to get your foot in the door. Well, last week I went to my orientation and I absolutely do not like the school. It is an incredibly party-friendly place (I do not smoke or drink) and the film program leaves a lot to be desired (They do not even have editing equipment! It is geared towards "experimental filmmaking").
Also, they messed up my schedule and my double major and it turns out that I will not even be able to take a film class until second semester, if at all.
I had planned to stay there two years and then transfer to a school with good film/tv production and english programs but now I am considering deferring my admission and simply looking for other schools to start at.
However, I am having an incredibly difficult time finding schools that offering a Film Production Major AS WELL as an English major because the majority of schools that offer the specialized Film major are technical schools that do not offer traditional English programs.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
If you need any further information I will be happy to provide it.

Thank you,
Chelsea
