Incoming Freshman Seeking Dorm Advice

Hey there, I’m an incoming UF freshman for the Fall 2018 term. I’d been planning to live off-campus until just recently, so I never bothered to complete a housing application in advance. The way things are turning out, though, it seems like it’d be more desirable to live on-campus. Thing is, I don’t think I can handle a roommate, so I’d need to rent out a single dorm. Since I failed to apply before December 1, I can’t accept a housing contract without running the risk of being placed in a shared room. I understand that this might come off as a petty objection but I do not believe myself to be mentally well enough to live with another person.

Basically, I’m wondering how likely it would be for me to get assigned to a single dorm (provided that I specify this as a preference, of course.) I filed my initial housing application around one week ago. It also might be worth noting that I have been accepted into UF’s honors program and consequently am guaranteed housing in Hume Hall.

Thanks for reading. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a doctor’s note that says you specifically need a single? If not, the chances are really slim unless you want lakeside.

OP: You need to contact the school about this housing issue.

Yes this is too specific for this forum, but I agree that the best shot at a single would be a medical reason.
