<p>Is it true that the building of the new Whitman college is allowing increased chances of admission? If so how many more people are being accepted and what year is this starting?</p>
<p>The administration is gradually increasing the size of the student body by 500 people. It is hard to predict the effect this will have on selectivity.</p>
<p>There are 3.2 mil 2008ers, more than any other class in history, and even more than the immediate classes coming up. It is an abnormally high amount of high schoolers, so how much better will your chances really be? not much.</p>

<p>Whitman was opened this year, and admission for the class of '11 was the most selective ever. So no, Whitman doesn't make it easier to get in.</p>

<p>xatuuax, it's pretty early to be thinking about specific colleges. Just get good grades and stay involved in things you're passionate about. Enjoy high school.</p>
<p>On a related note, though, they will have to admit more people because they're not doing ED anymore. Not that I think that will have much of an impact on the percentage, given the number of students who'll be applying this year, but nonetheless...</p>
