One home schooler I came across in print called schools “day orphanages”.
A reporter interviewed me about home schooling one December, and asked who shouldn’t home school. I replied that you have to like hanging around with your kids, and asked “How many times have you heard people say that they are happy the holidays are over, the kids go back to school”. She guffawed big time.
I guess we just need to be a bit counter-cultural.</p>

<p>Danas, you are right - successful homeschoolers like to be with their kids. It is always sad to me to hear a parent say (while their kids are listening) how glad they are that break is over so the kids can go back to school. Gee Mom, it was a pleasure to be home with you too. Sigh.</p>
