Incredible Achievement - Already applied to top schools?

Hey everyone!

For the past 3 months I have been leading a youth council, as a co-chair, that has been around for 17 years. It was first created in an effort to build a youth center in town. 17 years ago, the proposed article failed to pass at town meeting. This year, however, the youth services in town asked for town financial support once more and it PASSED. As co-chair of the youth council, now part of the youth services, I put in numerous hours of work, planned, made calls, etc for months. At the town meeting itself I was the only youth to make a speech (I was asked to do so), and have been quoted and recognized in local papers, as well as in larger scale papers like the boston globe... I have been recognized by staff and the public as a youth leader in town.

This is obviously an incredible achievement, at least in my eyes. But I have two problems.

First, I already applied to my top 4 schools (Notre Dame, BC, University of San Diego, USC)... Is there any way I can let these schools know about this achievement? All I have listed is that I am the co-chair of the youth council, and in Notre Dame's supplements that I was working hard to get a youth center.

Second, what is the best way to let my other schools know about this achievement? Additional information? A recommendation from a youth services worker (who is not a teacher)?

Thanks for your help!

You can write a letter to each of these schools supplementing your application. A cover letter plus a letter from someone else (is there an advisor to your program)? Press clipping, etc.

Just send an email to admissions office with updates. They will add them to your file. My sister who applied to HYPS +other top colleges last year won some national awards in January. She called schools, and they all preferred email (less paperwork, I guess?). She got into most of the schools, so email is fine.

For your other schools, you can write in the “additional information” section of the common app.
