@Lambda123 Don’t get me wrong but applying for Financial Aid significantly reduces your chances in almost all schools except Yale.
I personally think your low SAT scores (especially English) and absence of SAT Subjects, APs and importantly TOEFL might considerably hurt your application.
Your grades are good, but not excellent. There might be hundreds of students with 10 CGPA applying to these top univs.
Your achievements in Indian Exams seem good, but to US Universities, it might look very academic oriented. Especially if you wrote your essays on an academic topic, it might not turn out very good.
As far as MUNs are concerned, they are the most overrated EC for Indians and Chinese. So I don’t think that they do well.
Also, TBH, school level SOF medals are not worthy of being mentioned. Every school, and in that every class gets three. So it has almost zero significance.
I guess you might have a shot at primarily Arts or Humanities oriented colleges.
My school doesn’t organise APs and an international student doesn’t need TOEFL if his first language has been English for at least four years.
I wrote my essays about me which are not very academic oriented.
Yes, I haven’t mentioned school level olympiad medals on my commonapp.
@Lambda123 Good that you haven’t mentioned the School Level Olympiads.
I know. Few colleges don’t give much importance to TOEFL if you study in an English school. But your SAT English Score is a bit low for consideration too.
Top Schools have both scores near 700.
@Lambda123:: It seems that not all of your choices offer direct engineering programs.
Yeah, I know.
I tried.
Hoping for the best.
I have applied for comp sci in a few, Biomed in a few and econ in a few.

I contacted colleges about GPA conversion, ASU responded," they are really great as they are 4 GPA after conversion, according to their admission officers"
Essays: Decent, put a lot of effort into them, my Himalayan story about blogs and raising money for cleanliness awareness
Recs: Actually, I am from KV, students does not apply for US uni here, so they wer confused as ■■■ is that
As I explained they said they will write really great and will do googe searches at home.
SO really great recs there
As for ECs
KV does not allow students to form clubs,
But I was a House Vice captain (11th year ) and House captain (12th year )
and have some volunteer services
Class monitor in 9th grade and 12th grade
I am right now undecided.
Any suggestion to do in my remaining year?
Well… Good SAT and SAT Subject scores, but your school grades are a bit too less. So is your TOEFL.
Also, universities know the Indian Education system. They WILL NOT convert percentages to GPAs.
I see that your ECs are a bit less as well. House captain might indicate leadership, but class monitor I think will not matter much.
Remember that as an Indian (one of the most represented country after China), you will be against ISEF finalists, Patent holders, and Olympiad medalists.
Thanks for your reply
A columbia uni undergradate was saying TOEFL does not matter much as they only look at if the applicant got more than 100, they also know that most elite private schools are somewhat corrupt and they kinda don’t look at CBSE, that was his saying.
I think you are maybe right but olympiad, isff finalist and that patent thing is not my cup of tea,
I mean if every Indian is doing olympiads and other things,THEN how we are unique in the application pool, I think personal achievements also matter like I have raised some money for cleanliness awareness, I have no internships as I live in city (Udaipur) with literally no companies, But I have done a lot of freelance programming jobs online,And I have 3 blogs, one with 70k monthly, one with 30k, and one with 5k readership .
As for ECs
I will be adding formed a cleanliness awareness in udaipur club in my school,
Vice captain of Love Tech club in my school,
I also think that they will also have knowledge about grade deflation in 11th as the teachers want students to get really gripped for 12th boards.
Does being undecided will do damage in my application?
Anyone got any likely letters?
@texarishere, I got into Umich Ross and UIUC Gies Hinors.
And UVA too.
I mean likely letters… The ones Ivies and Stanford send…
Even I got into UIUC James Scholar Program ?
Anyone who got into GeorgiaTech?
I did.
@whatsmypassword mind sharing your stats?
Hey guys, anyone got into GT?
