Welcome to India. If you havent noticed it yet, IIT followed by IIM is the sure-shot money minting technique. lthough that doesnt matter to me, it does to about 1 billion indians

I from Hyderabad. I attend this place called Mega Study Circle, as these were the only guys who would let me do their course with school. Otherwise, were expected to join the Intermediate, and not attend college. Attendance will be given if you pay the college some cash, and they dont have decent teachers/infrastructure anyway. Thats why im in the CBSE

Hmm that's fair enough. Fortunately, FIITJEE has courses designed around the school timetable... and they take those into account. They'd postpone tests even if one student in the batch had something important at school.

And now they've started this new system where the school work and JEE prep will be done at the same time. No need to attend separate institutions. That's till 5 in the evening. I wish I had that in my time.. cuz I was out of home from 7 in the morning to 8 in the night, 4 times a week.

haha(VERY BITTER LAUGH)-dont talk to me about Fiitjee.I spent more than a year and half at it remember?

akash, you were in fiitjee delhi... me at fiitjee patna. The latter is much better in terms of teacher/student ratio. 7 batches of 30 students each, and in my batch only ~12-15 showed up regularly. I dont know about 1 year batches though... and teachers are the same as delhi branch.. they rotate regularly.

nomad, you're talkin to a guy who got 94% 10th grade without studying. He might not need to toil any harder than he is doing right now.

prashant.. u STARTED this so will u shutup n help me out now???
i jus figured im gonna feel a lil awkward wid all those science geeks around me.. i realised it today see.. at skool we had a maths exam, all my classmates opt for mechanics and i take statistics.. well they were all discussin some hooke's n crook's laws etc etc which totally bounced off my head.. n then it struck me..dis is how its gonna b at MIT too!!! aaaaaarghhhh.....HELP!

i hated the educational system in the 11-12th so i didnt study.
i liked writing so i started my own newspaper
im sure the way education is imparted in american uniivs is considerably better than "ok class, go through pages 1-50, test tomorrow"

if i like the education i get im sure i'll apply myself with more rigour. i just spent two years of my life doing absolutely nothing. (academically). now its time for me to work those brain cells again.

the ICSE was so pretty much a joke, i started studyin hard only 2 weeks before the exams(on avg 20 hours a day) and did well on them. (in my prelims , just one month before the actual exam i was in the botton third of my class)

moral of the story:i'm one of those lazy bums who doesnt work unless it's necessary.

(i hope the better educational system in the US changes all this)

akash, how much did you get from Duke ? Are you going there?

Bah i am currently facing the possibilty of going 70000 in debt to go to a good school or 9000 in debt to go to an average school.

First of all the indian educational system is structured in a way that you can get 94 % in 10 without studying and i mean no matter how freaking smart you are. And flamethrower i just meant that hope to have longer studying sessions in these universities on a regular basis thats all. :)

hmm didnt see the 20 hour post sheesh you sound like so many of my friends ( thats inhuman man) . Follow my philosophy - Always look at consequences:D

I slacked off in 10 because I simply saw no point in studying for them. I mean noone looked at 10th grades anyway ( then a 87 or a 94 didnt matter) .
