yup...got my yale id and pin.(2 weeks back, so i guess u should check with them)
but they somehow missed me for the interview??
everyone else i know in bbay has already finished with the interviews, and the guy who was takin them has left india):

^ yep I got it.

which reminds me: I hadn't applied to Yale (as in I just sent the common app, nothing else) and I didnt even follow up. A month later the adcom sends me an email, informing me that they were yet to receive the rest of my app. So I sent it in :D

btw I got my Pin before I sent in the other stuff. So in short Yale is despo for applicants to boost their selectivity.

bloody hell.
and I who sent in everything the same night have got neither a letter nor an interview
Only a postcard saying they received the app :(

sucharita... what were ur SAT's, where u applying to?
(yes, i am a nosey guju)

Oh adi look you have another nosy gujju to keep you company!

SHHHHH! SAT is a starred word on this thread...call it the S-Word :p

I applied to HYPS :D (not in that order of preference) and Smith and Mount Holyoke. Oh and Penn :)

im assuming you did extremely well on the "S" tests then judging from that list of coll's u r applying to..

Sadi?.

remembers physics lesson...as in Sadi Carnot?

P.S. Just ignore this post...I had to let off the stress somewhere..:p

Carnot as in Carnot's Engine 2nd Law of Thermodynamics Carnot? Never knew his name was Sadi...

SADI - MY GUJJU BROTHER/SISTER (???) (FROM BBAY) - WELCOME ABOARD - we got to beat all these Bongs and delhites ....
dude, u have awesome chances of getting admitted (coz u a gujju :D)

sadi - ur chem score would impact the admission dependin on ur planned major. so if u plannin to do chem eng..than yeah, chem score does count..but if u planning for something else...thts fine...

i got to run right now, but will look @ ur list and give u some scoop on it later...

such: "It was a rhetorical question adi"
it just gave me an opportunity to make my point :p

found a gujju bro from bbay...oohh i am so happy...

also adcoms will understand your family situation and realize tht what you have done is a huge accomplishment given the situation...

oh btw - such has 1600  and 2400

Sadi - I think you're in at 80% of your college choices! For HYP etc. you can't really say anything but for the others I believe you're one of their better applicants (even more so because you're a perm.res. so no worry about finaid posing a threat to you).

Though, I also think your college choices are rather random, as in there's a mix of engg. with LACs etc.

yo merc, the Bio on the intel finalists pages is a link to their biographies :p

I figured that out :o

YAY!!!!! POST #100!!!!

clap clap :)

loyal indian you are..

"Yale with ID and PIN?"
yup - but havent recd 1 from caltech

Oh yeah sucharita i dont have any yale id/pin too, and neither does another of my friends. so dont lose heart.

but that maybe because my app isnt complete (seems unlikely since hello received his before his app was complete).

btw whats the news on OOL's comp pracs? :D

sadi,
there is gr8 power in numbers. the good thing of applyin to 18 colls. is tht some1 will like u coz of subjectivity of application process (18 ppl cant think alike...its against human nature)
as for ur colls. as merc mentioned - HYP, Brown, Duke and Gtown chances is like playin poker (u dont know until the last card is drawn!) but u definitely has a better chance of getting admitted than many of us, coz u are not piled amongst intl looking for $$$.
as far other colleges - i definitely believe tht u have a good chance at many of those colleges. Your stats are pretty good (for an american resident) and also have substantial meaningful ECs. So, again - I would be  shocked if u dont get into at least couple of those...
having said that, if u have recos., transcripts, etc. and arent bustin ur as s for boards, and have spare time - go ahead and apply to couple more...aint gonna hurt...but you should be in good shape even without it...

and also have substantial meaningful ECs.

Exactly. That was one thing that struck me. Don't worry too much about that chem score.

adides... kem cho?
for the record i'm your gujju brother from bbay (:
thanks for the eval on my chances. if i get into any of my top choices i swear i'll distribute dhoklas.

mercurysquad- thanks.... im hopin my EC's will swing it for me...cos i know quite a few ppl with better SAt scores etc than me also applyin to pretty much the same places as me...

im planning on an econ/pol sci/philosophy major (atleast thats what i wrote on their apps), so i'm hopin that chem score doesnt hurt too bad.

hmmmm im definately NOT doin engineerin. absolutely not. 2 years of HSC science has numbed my brain already. Duke- trinity, NW- journalism/econ and Rice- econ.
