am shocked such..how did u manage to abuse..!!!!!....so whos DADU now..huh??..:p...

ahem...adi...wat exactly is neo-pagan...:p...:(...am not very sure of these religious stuff....

Just as the term "Eastern religions" refers to Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, etc., the terms "Neo-Pagan" "Neopagan," and "Pagan" refer to a collection of separate religions that share a few common themes

Many people are confused between Neopaganism and Satanism:

To some Fundamentalist Christians, all religions other than Judaism and Christianity are actually varieties of Satanism. To them, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Taoism, and the various Neopagan religions are all forms of Satanism, or at least are led by Satan or his demons.
To almost everyone else, Neopagan religions are simply individual faith groups with little or no connection to Satanism

so premanjali - u are a follower of the SATAN...the demon, the devil...

sucharita, you got a letter from princeon saying they didnt get your sat i and sat ii scores too? i got one and called up the guys at ets. they promised to resend my scores to pton within 2 business days. I think its some sort of a clerical error at pton though. It was on my 'send scores to' list every time i took a test, but never got a single one

The only reason i asked is i just got a letter (i have n idea how they got my address) with their application form. It seems i qualify for 'assured admission' or some such crap like that. I have NO intention of applying. That assured admission thng is for people who got more than some 1270 on the SAT I. you think ill stooop to that level? NO WaY

Oops that was meant to be :"Adi is not really a member of the canine family"
Sorry :)

Hey, i think i just figured out why only about 5 indians get into mit every year. Consider a relatively intelligent indian student interested in engineering.Theres a Natural oobligation to clear the IITJEE, which is in itself a propoosition which takes up about 15 hours a day for the whole two years. therefore, pathetic ECs. To add to that, acads are not that brilliant either since all ur teachers think we shouldnt get too overconfident for the all mighty board exams and then thoroughly SCREW all our mmarks in the two years so that our grades are at best mediocre in american scales. Then, to add to that, a near complete lack of oppurtunities to pursue research or take 'college level' courses, or rather, to get credit for taking college, or near-college level courses. To top it all off, we go out of ur way to keep it all out of the application so that the adcoms dont think that were using mit as a safety or are applying just for the heck of it. Now tell me, which part of our application did i miss (ie, which are wonderful high school system allows us to project our genius). Dont tell me its the essays, because lets be honest here - theres a limit to which the essays can tilt the pp t our favour, and there is someone else out there who has brilliant essays AND wonderful grades.

"Consider a relatively intelligent indian student interested in engineering.Theres a Natural oobligation to clear the IITJEE,"

i know many of my friends with 1600/2400, etc. who arent applyin to IITJEE. I also have friends who dont want to go to IIT, coz they are afraid of being surrounded by geeks...

"near complete lack of oppurtunities to pursue research or take 'college level' courses, or rather, to get credit for taking college, or near-college level courses"
thts is where the diff. is - the want initiators, leaders, people who can tk charge of things in their own hand and do the impossible. if ne1 tells me tht in india they dont have research opps - i will agree with it from a school curicullum perspective...but did the applicant try to initiate a research on his own @ his home...not having resources or opportunities are great excuses to make ourselves feel better...but the most successful ppl (applicants) are who made the best of those scarce resources and opportunities...

so i'd disagree with these 2 lines. fine w/everything else...

lol like me :p , jokes apart, i am keen on knowing that since i am an NRI, would I have been placed under the "indian" quota if i applied to MIT?

SP maybe you should ask someone from MIT...

Oh man, IIT screening 10th April...God will I never get any peace??
Please lets not talk about IIT here, its too sore a subject with me :(

sp - u fall under the 'global quota' or the 'lost quota' coz of ur multiple n complex situation...
