<p>Some local alumni associations also offer information sessions for admitted students--and it can pay to attend these.</p>

<p>My son attended one of these on the west coast and won a $50 gift certificate towards purchasing a textbook. (6 such awards were given).</p>

<p>One attendee at this event won a gift certificate that paid for all textbooks for one semester (for all classes in which she was enrolled).</p>
