Anyone going to the one in NYC on 3/8?

Has anyone been to one that can let us know what goes on? Is it just a meet and greet, or is there some sort of presentation? Do students get to mingle?

i am going! ahhaha whats up im julie, im from stony brook long island where are you frommmmm. its just a one hour cocktail reception where we get to eat food and meet people.

We went to one in the Bay Area--and since only a few people attended (like 10 or so), there were enough prizes so that one person got all their books paid for during their first semester of attendance, and the rest (including my son) got $50 gift certificates at the local Bloomington TIF bookstore.

My son went the following year as an alumnus--so he could tell people what is was like and share some stories--and since they had extra prizes left over, he won another $50 gift certificate for the TIF bookstore that year also. (Didn't go last year, though--but that's because he was busy working that day as part of his internship.)

P.S. I don't know that they give prizes like this at all the events, though--and even if they normally do, they may not this year because of the economy. I think the prizes were donated by the IU alumni that lived in the local area.

Hi julie, my D is from long island, too. Her name is Darci. Look for her tomorrow...she is short w/long-ish brown hair and glasses. She'll prob be wearing a black top, jeans and boots (doesn't help too much...)
