Indiana University

Hi,

I am a white female from northern California and IU is my dream school. I currently have a 25 on act which is low but I have a 3.5 gpa unweighted and I take AP classes. I have never gotten a C, as well. I do multiple sports, participate in church and volunteer at the neighbor hood old folks home. I have also organized events in my community and am the president of a club. My father also is friends/ work partners with the ceo of his company who also went to IU, He has been in discussion with the dean of admissions because my sister also goes there and he mentioned my desire to go to IU, What are my chances?

Your chances are pretty good for IU since they’re acceptance rate is about 75%. However, if you plan to get in to the Kelley School of Business that is a different story. Kelley only accepts roughly 39% of undergraduate students and even lower for Direct Admit for first year students. This makes sense because Kelley is one of the top business schools in the country. IF you plan on going to the Jacobs School of Music (renowned music school), they’re acceptance rate is also lower than the actual school.

I’d say you have a decent chance to get in. I don’t think you will get any merit aid, and if you did, it would probably be very little. I would keep that in mind if cost is an issue.

Also, just curious - why is IU your dream school if you are from California? My freshman year roommate was from California, and he knew a few other kids from California, so maybe IU has some sort of presence there?
