Which would provided a better undergraduate enviorment/ program? I am an American who wants to study Chineese and Tibetan Culture/ languages. Each school has a program, but which one is a better buy? I am white and live in Virginia.

Well then, perhaps you’ve had an unusual experience or background that makes you absolutely certain that Chinese and Tibetan cultures & languages is your long-term field. But barring that, unless you can afford to be truly price-insensitive, I wouldn’t recommend that you go to an OOS public U just to pursue that field. The average college student changes majors 2-4 times, and OOS students are the lowest priority for financial aid at state Us.

I would go to Indiana University, Indiana has a better environment, better reputation than Oregon/Toronto. Also, the foreign language at Indiana is excellent (has every language including romance languages, Urdu, Haitian Creole, Tibetian etc…)

Indiana is a great school. The campus is beautiful and the students are friendly. There are quite a variety of highly ranked programs. My daughter graduated from IU and had a wonderful college experience.

You all are underestimating Toronto. Besides being an excellent school. Toronto has a very large asian population. It is often touted as the most muti-cultural city on the planet.

“I would go to Indiana University, Indiana has a better environment, better reputation than Oregon/Toronto.”

Uh, Toronto is one of the best universities in the WORLD and is arguable the best school in Canada. This would be my first choice. Indiana is a very solid 2nd. Oregon only if it is remarkably less expensive then the other two, but is not in the same class.

With the current US/Canada conversion rate (obviously this could change up or down) Toronto may also be a good value in addition to being a strong school

hmm my question is that since it’s a “state” school and most graduates of state schools find jobs in the local area/state/province where the college is located, how easy would it be to come back to the US and get a good job with a UT degree?

true williambmason but Indiana has a better “environment”, also what happens if you decide not to pursue asian studies? Indiana is the better choice because it has a strong program in your major as well as in other majors.

"well being a proud citizen of the United States, STAY IN THE US AND GO TO INDIANA!!! haha "

This isn’t an issue of mindless blind patriotism, this is an issue of a good quality education, which you can get at any of these universities. Oregon is actually underrated IMO, Indiana is great, but Toronto is on another level. It is a Canadian Ivy, Internationally renowned, in a great city and on par with the top 25 universities in this country.
