Hey Peeps,
This thread will help all the Indians going to the University of Washington, Seattle for the Fall 2014. You can ask questions, discuss your major, activities and tons of things here!

Okay, So i’ll start. I am from New Delhi and i am majoring in Computer Science. Any other Delhiite going? :O

Lol I so saw this coming.

Ha - I initially thought this was a thread about American Indians! :))

From Mumbai, Majoring in CompE. Btw did any of you’ll get in as Direct Admits?

@SoccerGuy7 Nope. I got in as a Pre-Science major in the college of Arts and Sciences. What about you?
Are you sure you going to Uwash?

@forzajuve i got in for pre-engineering. im deciding between uwash and wisconsin. Where are you going?

@SoccerGuy7 I am deciding between Uwash, wisconsin-madison and purdue. Most probably to uwash.
What major you wanna do in engineering?

Hey. I’m from Kanpur, and intend to major in Computer Science. Already committed to UW. What schools are you guys from?

@forzajuve im also deciding between those three but im not keen on Purdue. Im going to major in Computer engineering. I would have already committed to uwash but they only accept 30% to their CSE department so getting into the major isnt guaranteed. So i was thinking, why give up wisconsin(an equally good school with a great reputation) for uwash. But im still deciding

@SoccerGuy7 Yeah. You would need to work hard in uwash especially if you are doing a CS/CSE major. The problem with Wisconsin is that it is extreme in everything
I mean, the weather(-20’s), then it is in Wisconsin after all so it is a small city.
The good thing about Washington is- its SEATTLE! <3
Then, Microsoft’s headquarters is 20 minutes from the University so great job opportunities and internships because we would be doing CS. Then, its in the west coast nearby California. So, i THINK, i would be going for UW.
Yeah! I have also eliminated Purdue from the list.

@forzajuve Uwash admits only 3/10 for CSE and we should always consider the worst case scenario, that is if we dont get in then what? Uwas isnt that great in other departments especially compared to Wisconsin and interms of job opportunities it is better but all the major tech companies come to recruit at Wisc as well. Also you wont constantly have that feeling that your not into your major yet.

@SoccerGuy7 Yeah. You are right. Here a risk factor comes into play. So… lets see. Actually, if you are confident enough that you’ll get into CS, then i think taking a risk is not a bad option. So, it still a CAN’T SAY!

@forzajuve i know its a tough decision. but what i like about wisconsin is that the program is not at all rigorous and you have the option to place out of a couple of courses. also they give out good grades, as in its not tough to get an A.

@SoccerGuy7 Well yeah. Its a positive. And Yuss, its a tough decision.
What i am doing is searching for people currently in University’s CS program(Both Uwash and Wisc). You should check out College Prowler. Its quite helpful.

@SoccerGuy7 Lol. the second word is “Prowlers”.
CC blocked the word :P

Check out College…what? it doesnt show here

The second word has been blocked by this site.
It is " Prowlers" .

oh okay i will check it
